A Word To The Wise -
While professional pianists or people who hold degrees in music may
be able to evaluate the sound & response of a piano, they are not Technicians.
When evaluating a piano, I not only check out the sound & response of
the instrument but the soundboard, bridges, pinblock, action (mechanism),
pedal system, tuning pins, casework, etc. all for structural defects & damage.
Always have a thorough inspection done on the piano you are purchasing.
Its your investment !

While many times I obtain older pianos with ivory keys for my clients, I would like to stress
that I do not endorse the use of new ivory on any new or reconditioned piano (or anywhere else).
Elephants and other ivory producing animals are rapidly declining and are in danger of total
extinction, not to mention the horrendous way that poachers remove ivory from living animals.
The Piano Technicians Guild has also stated they opposes the use of
new ivory and further supports a ban on all ivory trade.
